2015 Fantasy Hockey Preview: Centres

September’s already around the corner which means there’s isn’t much time left to start doing your homework for the next fantasy draft in your league! Two Pad Stack’s Fantasy Preview starts this week! With this season, I’ll be trying something new and presenting my fantasy previews in an entirely different system. Instead of just writing brief excerpts on every player, I’ll rate all the top players using a scale of 1 to 5 under the following categories:

  • Production (P): How consistent, or how likely a player will reach the totals that were expected of him to produce in the beginning of the season. A player with a rating of 5 rarely goes on scoring slumps, and his numbers are fairly predictable
  • Health (H): A player’s overall health. Players with ratings of 5 usually plays more than 90% of the season’s games, if not already maintaining lengthy iron man streaks. For goalies, the rating measures both the goalie’s ability to stay healthy and number of starts.
  • Team (T): Basically how good is the player’s team. The strength of a player’s team will always impact his performance no matter how little help he will need.

The ratings themselves have no effect on the players’ spot on the rankings, the ratings only serve to tell how much a risk a manager has when picking him. Where a player with a 5-5-5 rating is the safest pick.

Today I’ll be covering the Top 50 centres for this year, and like any other year, the centre position is always stacked. If you’re not out to pick a powerhouse player to lead your team you can generally still pick up very solid players in later rounds. Centres should be the least of your worries at the draft.

Tell me what you guys think about my new ranking system, any feedback is appreciated! See if it makes sense at all, and I’ll definitely be able to work on improvements next season!
