We hurry along to Day 4 of our fantasy preview coverage for today, your blueline. Nowadays, there are only a couple of top-flight defencemen that could really produce to the point they rival the prowess of a forward in terms of fantasy points. What I like to do at the draft is to stack up on defence first before moving on to forwards. As the season progresses and many players go through their hot and cold streaks, a solid blueline really makes a difference in the long run. For commissioners who like to run special leagues, defencemen should be even more valuable since they are a huge source of hits and blocked shots.
So unless you have a top-5 pick this year, focus on your back end (And your goalies too, we’ll get to that tomorrow). And of course, if defencemen really aren’t just your thing, no one said you couldn’t put an extra forward on your team and just bench and dress them according to their schedules.
