Everything is backwards in Australia, so this should come as a surprise to no one.
Ric Del Basso, who plays for the Perth Thunder of the Australian Ice Hockey League, scored the game-winner in a 5-4 shootout win over the Melbourne Ice…and then did this to celebrate:
And if you thinking “man, I bet he’ll get fined for that even though it was awesome”, you can think again. Del Basso isn’t just a player for Perth, but a co-owner as well. I wonder if they talked about possible awesome goal celebrations in the financial meetings? “Okay, we’re doing well in the second quarter and if I score a game-winner, I’m totally gonna slide on me head!” That’s how I like to imagine it came to be.
It’s a much better use of the head to celebrate, isn’t it Gus Frerotte?
