Report: Mohamed Sanu signs with Falcons

Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Mohamed Sanu has agreed to terms on a five-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports. The deal is worth $32.5 million with $14 million guaranteed.

Sanu’s best season came in 2014 when he recorded 56 catches for 790 yards and five touchdowns in 13 starts, while fellow receivers A.J. Green and Marvin Jones dealt with injuries. However, with Green and Jones healthy last season, Sanu started just four games and caught 33 passes for 394 yards and zero touchdowns.

But after the Falcons cut longtime receiver Roddy White, Sanu could possibly earn more playing time in Atlanta. At worst, he could be their No. 3 receiver.

The 26-year-old receiver can run and throw, too. Sanu has thrown two career touchdown passes and rushed for two scores last season. It will be interesting to see what Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan does with that next season.

Sanu’s deal comes a day after Jones agreed to sign with the Detroit Lions on a five-year, $40 million deal. So, in a span of two days, Cincinnati has lost two of its top three wide receivers.
