The 2017 Confederations Cup pits together Russia, Germany, Australia, Chile, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal and Cameroon. According to Timothy Wells, football betting guru at FootballPredictions.com, the Germans are regarded as hot favorites to win the tournament, but they will have to prove their worth on the field.

Germany did well to win the 2014 FIFA World Cup and, as a result, they will participate at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. Die Mannschaft have been impressive in the World Cup qualifiers and thanks to a 4-1 win at Azerbaijan they managed to keep their 100% record intact in Group C. Joachim Low’s troops are seen as No. 1 favourites to win the upcoming tournament in Russia and all eyes will be on the likes of Tony Kroos and Mesut Ozil when Germany take on Australia in their opener.

Portugal proved their worth at the 2016 European Championship finals, with the team clinching their first ever trophy at major tournaments. Cristiano Ronaldo missed the title game against France with injury, but the Real Madrid ace enjoyed a very successful tournament and, no doubt, he will be the man to watch in Fernando Santos’ team at the 10th FIFA Confederations Cup. A Selecao kick off their campaign on June 18 with a game against Mexico at Kazan’ Arena.

Chile will replace title holders Brazil at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup as they won the 2015 Copa America. La Roja were producing terrific performances at the showpiece tournament in their homeland and they totally deserved to win the trophy. The Chileans defeated Argentina on penalties in the title game and they are now on a quest to prove their worth at the Confederations Cup. However, it has to be noted that the South American team have been having their ups and downs under Juan Antonio Pizzi in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

By beating United States of America in the 2015 CONCACAF Cup final Mexico booked their place at the 2017 Confederations Cup. El Tri will compete at the quadrennial international men’s football tournament for the seventh time in the national team’s history and it has to be noted that they won the trophy in 1999. The Mexicans defeated Brazil in the Confederations Cup final back then, but I do not believe that they are capable of repeating the success at the upcoming tournament in Russia.

Hosts Russia aim to prepare in the best way possible for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The Russians have been grouped with New Zealand, Portugal and Mexico at the Confederations Cup and they are definitely capable of making it to the semis of the tournament. Nonetheless, given the quality of the teams from Group B, I do not believe that Stanislas Cherchesov’s men are capable of winning the silverware.

The likes of Australia, New Zealand and Cameroon have slim chances of clinching the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup trophy.
Yet another entertaining tournament is on the cards. Reigning champions Brazil failed to qualify for the 2017 Confederations Cup and, as a result, a number of football predictions suggest that Germany are going to win the trophy without any difficulties. The Germans won the 2005 tournament and they are widely expected to repeat the success.
