To say that we will see a huge change in the landscape of WWE over the next month and a half would be an understatement. It won’t be just the main roster that sees change though.
In order to fill out rosters that need to be big enough for two separate shows, I expect some of NXT top stars to get the call and make their way to the main roster.
This thought comes as we approach NXT’s latest Takeover special tonight. Originally, the tagline for this show was “Revenge” before being changed to “The End.” This change, along with the announcement of the brand split returning in July, left fans worried that this could be “The End” of NXT.
First off…stop…just stop! That’s not going to happen!
NXT has become to successful and popular to just throw away. In fact, a brand like NXT is needed now more than ever. Two separate rosters will be needing new talent as opposed to just one. Stars will need to be developed at a bit of a faster rate.
NXT can more than handle that!
I think the change to “The End” is correct though – this will be the end of NXT as we know it…sort of. NXT’s roster will be impacted by the upcoming roster draft. I can see several top NXT talents making their way to the main roster next month.
If you ask me, taking everything into account, I can see the likes of Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura, The Revival, Alexa Bliss and Bayley being drafted and making main roster debuts soon. With this big of a loss, some have said that NXT won’t be able to thrive like it has in the last few years.
Again…stop…just stop!
Even with those top stars gone, NXT is still set up for a strong immediate future! Behind American Alpha, Austin Aries, Nia Jax, current Woman’s Champion Asuka and current NXT Champion Samoa Joe.
That list doesn’t even include the debut tonight of Andrade “Cien” Almas, the recent signing of Tommy End and the potential signings of well-known stars like Eric Young and Bobby Roode! Not to mention rumors surrounding Ring of Honor star Moose and former German national goaltender Tim Wiese.
Triple H mentioned in a recent conference call that there are 80 or 90 potential superstars ready to get their chance in the Performance Center right now. The proverbial shelves will be replenished.
NXT will take a hit, maybe even ben knocked down. But don’t expect them to stay down for any significant period of time.
