All Red…Entertaining?

With the recent brand split, it was clear that fans would be buzzing about new superstars and new features on each of the two shows. We would be talking about brand warfare, especially with the already made match of Raw’s Brock Lesnar vs SmackDown’s Randy Orton. We would be talking about Finn Balor and how his Demon character would mesh with the main roster.

And, of course, we would all be talking about … … … Eva Marie???

Yes, Eva Marie!

All Red Everything has made an immediate impact on SmackDown and has done so in the perfect way! The SmackDown writers knew what they had with Eva, and have written a start to her main roster character that has been an absolute hit!

I have seen some of the training that Eva has done with THE Brian Kendrick and saw a few matches in NXT. She is not terrible in the ring. Her in-ring skills could pass for a few years ago when all you needed to be a success in the Diva’s division was to be something good to look at and a touch of actual wrestling skill.

Luckily though, thanks to last summer’s revolution, the Diva’s division is a thing of the past and now we have actual woman’s wrestling for the first time in over a decade – which, at this time, is not the best for Eva Marie.

But, as I said before, she is not terrible, and her in-ring work as improved. What she is, though, is an attraction. After winning the 2013 Diva Search (which was tdstill a thing in 2013, apparently) Eva Marie was immediately put on the cast of Total Divas since she had absolutely no wrestling background or ability.

OK, that made sense. To get her foot in the door with the company, put her on a TV show to basically just be her. That could work. And in the meantime, work on her in-ring work. Unfortunately that process took a lot longer than it should have.

The company is now ready to have her as a regular on one of their main shows, but the in-ring just isn’t there yet…but it is getting there. Until then, have her be what she has been up to this date…an attraction – and a great one at that!

Simply put, it is all about the entrance!

The WWE Universe in general seemed to come to the conclusion that Eva Marie is more of a celebrity than a wrestler – so why not go with that? The music hits, all of the lights in the arena turn red, and the booming voice similar to one that would introduce a Hollywood starlet begins the long, drawn out introduction for the ‘high profiled celebrity who is gracing us with their appearance.’ If you haven’t seen it yet, think The Miz but female, in all red tint, and wearing something that Maryse probably owns.

The entrance itself has sparked nothing but a positive reaction with the WWE Universe – more specifically the very vocal Internet Wrestling Community. For a group that has spent a lot of time breaking down each and every move that Eva Marie tried while in NXT, it is more than a surprise to hear positive reviews of her main roster debut. Again, it all boils down to the entrance.

The entrance is one thing, but at some point the bell rings and the match starts.

On the first SmackDown Live last week, Eva joined in on the Divas showcase as all of the Divas were simply introduced after the Becky Lynch/Natalya match. This week, we got the heralded Eva Marie entrance and she made her way all the way down to the ring! BUT, before the match could start against Lynch, she brought the ref over to tell him her leg was hurt and she couldn’t compete that night.

Brilliant!

It gives the fan’s the very entertaining entrance, generates heat for Eva as a hell, and allows her to further improve her in-ring skills before showcasing them on the big stage. Keeping on this path, Eva Marie has the potential to be one of the biggest female names on SmackDown Live.

She sure is off to a great start!
