Automatic Otto Rankings: Week 5

A little late on this, was sick. But better late than never.

5- Michael Vick, Steelers (last week: NR)

Vick wasn’t pretty in a Monday night tilt against San Diego, but he came through when he was needed. Vick tossed a bomb to Markus Wheaton in the 4th quarter to tie the game, then led a crucial final drive with under three minutes to play, including picking up a monster 24-yard gain on the ground, then hitting Heath Miller for 16, putting the ball at the 1-yard line. One play later, Vick played the decoy on a Wildcat formation, which resulted in the game winning walk off touchdown for the Steelers.

4- Matt Hasselbeck, Colts (last week: NR)

Matt Hasselbeck is everything you want in a backup QB- reliable. Against division rival Houston, and battling a bacterial infection that hospitalized him earlier in the week, Hasselbeck was efficient in a huge win for the Colts, tossing for a pair of touchdowns. Indianapolis is 2-0 with Hasselbeck under center.

3- Josh McCown, Browns (last week: NR)

Whoever had Josh McCown on their fantasy team in Week 5 is a genius, as the Browns QB completed 36 of 51 passes for 457 yards, two touchdown passes, and a rushing touchdown, as Cleveland won a back-and-forth thriller over the Baltimore Ravens in overtime, 33-30.

2- Andy Dalton, Bengals (last week: NR)

Someday, Bengals fans will appreciate the kind of gem of a QB they had in Andy Dalton. Trailing 24-7, Dalton rallied the Cincy to tie Seattle with three seconds to play, then led them to a game winning field goal in OT. Against the Legion of Boom, Dalton shredded Seattle for 331 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

1- Eli Manning, NY Giants (last week: 1)

Eli Manning completed a career high 41 passes and led the NY Giants on an 82-yard drive that culimated with the game winning touchdown pass with just 21 seconds left to play. Manning tossed for 441 yards and three touchdowns as the Giants rallied to beat the 49ers and take sole possession of first place.

So for the second week in a row, Eli Manning take the top spot in the Automatic Otto Awards.
