News from the combine not involving QB prospects

This weekend concluded the 2016 NFL Combine, and at a time when the buzz around the league should be about prospects, it seems the players already in the league stole the show.

Here’s a quick rundown of events that have taken place in the last couple of days:

Colin Kaepernick was supposed to be a 49er in 2016, albeit having to compete for the starting job against Blaine Gabbert, but now apparently, he wants out of Santa Clara. Just a day after 49ers GM Trent Baalke said Kap would be a 49er after April 1 (when his contract kicks into place), we got news that agents for the Niners QB were seeking a trade.

A number of teams could emerge as potential suitors for Kaepernick, including the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns.

Then we learned that not only are the Eagles trying to keep Sam Bradford a season after trading for him, but they’ve upped the money to lure him back to Philly.

And finally, we end with some expected news, and that is the retirement of Peyton Manning.

Drafted back in 1998, Peyton will call it a career after 18 seasons that culminated in his second Super Bowl win, his final pass a successful two-point conversion that put the finishing touches on a 24-10 win.
