Jason Terry guarantees the Rockets will beat Warriors in Game 5

With Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry to miss at least two weeks with a sprained right MCL, the Houston Rockets might be able to avoid elimination Wednesday. Jason Terry, Houston’s 38-year-old point guard not lacking in confidence, said the Rockets will win Game 5.

“I’m guaranteeing it,” Terry told reporters Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Calvin Watkins. “If I don’t, then what? It’s a loss, right. I guarantee victory — that’s what it’s going to take. I believe in my group. I know we can get a win here and send this thing back to Houston.”

Terry took it a step further by saying he’ll get a tattoo of the Larry O’Brien Trophy if the Rockets win the championship.

“I’m saying right here in front of everybody, I’m getting a tattoo of a Rockets trophy if we pull this thing out. You [heard] it here first.”

If that happened, it would be Terry’s second trophy tattoo. He got one before the 2010-11 season, when the Dallas Mavericks won the title.

Game 5 is do-or-die for the Rockets, who have lost games to the Warriors by an average of 20.6 points in the postseason. But with Curry out, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them extend the series.

However, the Warriors outscored the Rockets 65-38 in the second half of Game 3 and that was without Curry, so it’s not like Golden State is helpless without its star player. The Rockets are going to have it give it their all to take the series back to Houston.
