President Obama trolls Peyton Manning, Von Miller during White House visit

The Denver Broncos took their trip to the White House on Monday to meet with President Barack Obama.

Obama started by giving props to the Broncos for beating the one-loss Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

“On and off the field these guys are champs, so apparently John Elway knows what he’s doing,” Obama said. “I will continue to root for the Bears, but I have to give them credit for what they’ve done. This is a well-deserved celebration.”

And then the jokes started.

“I think maybe I could play wide receiver, but it’s been awhile since I’ve run a 4.4 40 [yard dash],” Obama said. “I do need a helmet. You get knocked around a little bit here in Washington.”

Since he went with a bit of self-deprecating humor, he then made jokes about a few of the Broncos players.

He acted like he had no idea who Peyton Manning was, calling him “the guy from the commercials.”

And Von Miller? Obama said he’s a good player who put on a great performance in Super Bowl 50 … for a “geek!”

The Broncos offense, which wasn’t very good last season, apparently has a new MVP: kicker Brandon McManus. Obama said he was the “heart and soul and the horsepower of the offense.”

All zingers aside, Obama still had some kind words for Manning, as he reflected back on the future-HOFers’ career.

“I’m so pleased to be able to host Peyton,” he said. “Anybody who’s been a football fan has watched what has been a Hall of Fame career.”

All in all, it seemed like a great day.
