Stability Needed for Question Mark QB

Success is fleeting and unstable. The smallest things can throw the path to success off course. This is especially true in groups or teams. Different personalities, goals and distractions coming together is the ultimate challenge. The ability to push teams towards a common goal is the reason John Wooden, Geno Auriemma, Bill Belechek and Greg Popvich are so well respected. A big part of these coaching success stories is stability. The same coach, general manager, foundational players and system provide known entities for free agents, young players and rookies to look to and build workout programs, practice routines and skill development around. Stability and structure are the reasons Colin Kaepernick should restructure his agreement and come to Denver. While his physical tools are unquestioned, his erratic play last year is frequently questioned and when you look at the Niners you can see how his erratic play coincides with erratic front office decisions.

Gary Kubiak

Gary Kubiak is the stability Colin Kaepernick has missed

Colin Kaepernick has had success in the NFL. People seem to suffer from immediacy when looking at his skill and career. In three years as a full time starter Kaepernick took the Niners to the Superbowl, The AFC Championship and 8-8. These three years were with the same coach, general manager and scheme. Then everything fell apart at the hands of Jed York and Trent Baalke. They parted ways with Jim Harbaugh and promoted the D line coach with head coaching experience with the Rein Fire in NFL Europe. This change coincided with unprecedented roster turnover. All-Pro players, starters, young rotational players and strong veterans leaving the team through retirement, free agency or trades.

The Broncos are the opposite side of this spectrum. John Elway is a former player with experience playing for two coaches. He values consistency. He has replaced the coaching staff to assure young players develop and veterans are put in the right spot to win. It worked and the Broncos are now building for future success while winning now. Kaepernick liked working with a good D and good running game while with Harbaugh in San Fran. He will like working with a great D and good running scheme while with Kubiak. Matt Schaub was a good QB and made a Pro-Bowl when he worked with Kubiak in Houston. Kapernick has the skill to be better. He also will have two former players to direct him down the right path. All of the structure San Francisco had during Kap’s best years are in place with the Broncos and it seems John Elway is looking to capture that success again.
