Brandon Marshall joins Eric Decker in apparent OTA protest

Add Brandon Marshall to the list of Jets wide receivers who are sitting out OTAs because they only want to catch passes from Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Marshall and Decker were missing from organized team activities for the second straight day Wednesday, and Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News figures they’re staying away to show support for their unsigned quarterback.

The Jets and Fitzpatrick continue their game of chicken with the regular season creeping closer. The 33-year-old Fitzpatrick reportedly wants more than the $8 million a year the Jets are offering after throwing a career-high 31 touchdown passes and leading the Jets to a 10-6 record in 2015.

Perhaps the Jets are seeing Fitzpatrick’s body of work another way. Fitzpatrick faced seven of the nine lowest-ranked defenses last season.

As inflated as Fitzpatrick’s numbers may be, however, Marshall and Decker seem to be convinced that he’s the quarterback to lead the Jets into the playoffs in 2016.
