Jared Goff says he’s learning fast

So far, so good for Jared Goff.

There’s a long way to go before we know just how good the Rams quarterback will be, but after his second organized team activity session Wednesday he told the team’s website that he feels like he’s learning quickly.

“I’m picking it up at a pretty good pace, I think, and feel really good as far as how fast I pick it up,” Goff said about the Rams’ playbook.

The Rams began their OTAs Tuesday, later than any other team. More will be revealed about the top pick in the draft when he practices in pads, and some of those practices could be part of the “Hard Knocks” TV series that airs during training camp.

For now, Goff is working with the second-team offense but he’s earning praise from his teammates.

Case Keenum, who is running the first-team offense at OTAs, has been impressed with Goff’s ability to command the huddle. Second-year running back Todd Gurley has noticed Goff’s “quick release.”

That quick release probably is among the traits noticed months ago by the Rams’ scouting department and one of the reasons the Rams traded from No. 15 to No. 1 to draft him.
