Pekka Rinne is making his return and other daily updates: March 3

The Predators will be getting Pekka Rinne back on Tuesday night, according to their Twitter feed.

The Preds made a move by waiving recent acquisition Devan Dubnyk on Monday morning, so Rinne is definitely back.

There was an interesting little tidbit from Darren Dreger yesterday about Stephane Robidas.

Apparently Robi is still and interesting piece out the on the market. If the Stars are able to get anything for the veteran D-man who is playing on an expiring contract, I’m sure all Stars fans will be doing backflips.

The Chicago Blackhawks made a move yesterday by trading young center Brandon Pirri to the Florida Panthers for two draft picks, a third-round pick in 2014 and a fifth-round pick in 2016.

It’s an interesting move by the Blackhawks as Pirri is a pretty nice prospect. The Blackhawks had recently made a move for Peter Regin though and had a bit of a logjam at the center spot.

Pirri joins a solid, and rather impressive, group of prospects down in Florida and he’ll get ample opportunity to snap a starting spot with their team.

The Vancouver Canucks got a scare yesterday when Daniel Sedin went into the boards awkwardly and injured his leg as it seemed to get caught under him. He immediately left the game and didn’t return.

Sedin had been in a long slump, and this injury does him absolutely no favors. The Canucks need all the help they can get at the moment, and losing him for a lengthy period of time would be a huge blow for their playoff hopes. This could also have a big effect on the Ryan Kesler front as well.

There was a testy matchup between the Capitals and the Flyers yesterday. At one point, Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov made a highly questionable hit on Brayden Schenn, smashing him into the boards. Orlov is going to be getting a phone call from the league.
