NFL feels the pain of Prince’s death

Iconic musician Prince died Thursday morning at the age of 57, according to CNN.com, and his shocking death is being felt in the NFL.

Prince performed his signature song “Purple Rain” in the rain at halftime of Super Bowl XLI in Miami. During that show came one of the biggest wow-moment visuals in the history of Super Bowl halftime shows.

Prince performs during the "Pepsi Halftime Show" at Super Bowl XLI between the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears on February 4, 2007 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Considering he lived in Minneapolis and his affinity for the color purple, it’s not surprising Prince was a Vikings fan.

Dozens of current and former NFL players have saluted Prince and expressed their feelings on Twitter.

From a cultural standpoint, it’s a sad day for America and the NFL.
