All The Top Trending Esports Titles Of The Year

The Most Popular Esports Games Of 2022

Right now, the video games industry generates more revenue than the music and film industries combined. This is because, for many, gaming is no longer just another hobby; it has become an actual profession.

Pro-gamers now get to compete against one another during international eSports events – events that are globally covered by all of the biggest television entertainment broadcasters. These events often offer prize money reaching into the millions, and have become every bit as lucrative as big-league traditional sports tournaments.

Below, we take an industry-inside look at the most popular eSports titles trending right now.

League Of Legends

From a competitive point of view, League of Legends is no joke. But this is also a huge part of why the game is so popular among serious gamers.

League of Legends (or LoL) is a strategy game played in real-time. Two teams compete against each other on what’s known as a “MOBA” map, which is short for “Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas”.

A typical LoL team will consist of 5 players, with each player taking on one of the following roles as they compete: ADC (Attack Damage Carry), Support, Jungler, Toplane, and Midlane (Carry).

The goal is to foil the opposing team by achieving certain objectives as a team, and thereby penetrating the opposing team’s base and destroying their nexus.

CS:GO

Counter Strike: Global Offensive is a first-person shooter strategy game.

Two teams made up of 5 players each compete against each other: one team as terrorists and the other as anti-terrorists.

The unique thing about CS:GO is that unlike most first-person shooter games, when a player is killed that player cannot immediately re-join the game. This can only happen during the next round.

Fortnite

The premise of this game is a simple one, much like claiming an online casino sign up bonus. 100 players compete against one another on a map. The last-man-standing wins.

Fortnite is classed as a battle royale game, and currently has more than 4,000 players competing professionally. In order to win, players must formulate and execute a tactical advantage over their opponents.

Dota 2

Not unlike League of Legends, Dota 2 is also played on a MOBA map. But when compared to LoL, Dota 2 offers much more technical, and less mechanical, gameplay.

Again, team-players get to choose from 5 different roles, which makes for huge variety and enjoyability.

Right now, Dota 2 is considered the most popular eSports title in the world.

Overwatch

Overwatch is combination of MOBA and first-person shooter titles.

While players compete from a first-person perspective, they do so by taking on different roles equipped with different abilities.

The trick is to use these abilities to outwit your opponents.

Hearthstone

Set within the confines of the Warcraft universe, Hearthstone is a strategy game that is fast-paced and enormous fun. By collecting different cards, players get to summon mystical creatures, command heroes to compete in duels of strategy, and even sling a spell or two.

As they progress through the game, players earn rewards such as gold, rare cards, and dust for creating special cards.
