Carlos Hyde says players like Chip Kelly’s system

Now that the 49ers’ offseason program is complete, Carlos Hyde gives Chip Kelly’s offense a thumbs-up.

The running back told Sirius XM NFL Radio via Pro Football Talk that his teammates feel the same way.

“I feel like the team has bought into his system,” Hyde said.

Hyde, who turns 25 in September, figures to play a prominent role in Kelly’s fast-paced system. Kelly already has talked about using Hyde as a pass catcher out of the backfield.

Considering the 49ers went 5-11 last season, it’s easy to forget that Hyde looked like a rising star after Week 1. He ran for 168 yards and two touchdowns in a 20-3 win over the Vikings. But he ran for only 302 yards with one touchdown over the next six games before a foot injury ended his season.

Kelly has his detractors, but it will be hard for him not to be an upgrade over his predecessor as 49ers head coach.
