Report: Colin Kaepernick is throwing ‘a bit’

The 49ers lost out in the sweepstakes to trade up for Jared Goff or Carson Wentz in the weeks leading up to the NFL draft.

So perhaps it’s good news that Colin Kaepernick is throwing “a bit” according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

Kaepernick, who had his non-throwing shoulder, throwing thumb and knee operated on this offseason, is expected to be cleared for further activity by the end of the month.

The 49ers did draft Jeff Driskel of Louisiana Tech in the sixth round, but it’s looking like for all the Kaepernick trade talk, Kaepernick will try to win his starting job back from Blaine Gabbert in training camp.

Even though he hasn’t been able to participate, Kaepernick has attended every session of the team’s offseason activities. Perhaps Kaepernick’s physical tools, as well as a clean slate, will help him revive his career in Chip Kelly’s offense.

Three years ago Kaepernick was leading the 49ers to their third straight conference championship game. None of the quarterbacks drafted this year have that on their resumé.
