Calvin Johnson is unquestionably the best wide receiver in the NFL. So ideally, opposing teams are going to do all they can to keep the Detroit Lions and quarterback Matthew Stafford from getting the football to him.
Apparently, the New York Giants missed the memo and paid the price during Monday night’s season opener at Ford Field.

Some shifty moves by Stafford in the pocket and a defensive miscue in the secondary allowed Johnson to break out into the open downfield. Without a defender in sight, the Lions wideout made the easy catch and high-stepped his way into the end zone for a 67-yard touchdown reception that gave Detroit an early lead.
