Knock It Down: 8 Years In The NBA And Thankful Every Step Along The Way

This is the beginning of my 8th season in the NBA and it’s a huge deal to me because I’ve been able to do something I love for those 8-years at the highest level of basketball.

This story of my journey ran last November with Josh Chapin from the Palladium-Item in Richmond, Indiana, and a year later I am still as thankful for every step along the way.

Working with professional players requires more than just technique.

“There is a tremendous amount of personality involved with being able to work with these guys,” Townsend said. “If they don’t like you, you have no chance. If what I’m doing is different and it doesn’t work, then it’s over. If they like me and the stuff I do is good, then they start to gravitate to me.

“I revolve everything around the basketball, where it starts, where it starts with their hand. A lot of the stuff I do is really different than what most shooting coaches do.”
