Cowboys QB Tony Romo has no real ties to Duke, but he’s certainly been rooting hard for them this season. He hit up the Wake Forest-Duke game in the past with Jason Garrett, Jason Witten and (former teammate) DeMarco Murray.
Romo was at the national championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium on Monday night. The weird thing is that he grew up in Burlington, Wisconsin. But he made it quite clear that he was rooting for the Blue Devils over his hometown team, judging by the section he was sitting in.
There are a lot of “Romo finally won a championship” jokes and memes currently circulating on social media.
[Pro tip: Avoid them at all costs. They’re not very clever or funny.]
