Russell Westbrook dropped 37 points in the Thunder’s 138-113 win over the Timberwolves which helped him edge James Harden and claim his first NBA scoring title on Wednesday night.

Westbrook averaged 28 points per game and shot 42.5 percent from the field this season. And when Kevin Durant’s season was cut short due to a foot injury, Westbrook carried the load and put the team on his back.

Unfortunately for the Thunder, they will not be playing in the postseason this year as the Pelicans clinched the eighth seed in the Western Conference by defeating the Spurs.

Westbrook spoke to the media after the team’s victory over the Timberwolves, and he was asked what the scoring title means to him. He responded in true Westbrook fashion.

“Sht. It doesn’t mean nothing. Good job, hooray, I’m at home watching other teams play.”

You can’t fault Westbrook for feeling that way. Some players are out to win individual awards, while others want to compete with their teammates for a title. Westbrook is a competitor and clearly wants to win a championship ring.
