No school provided more players to active NFL rosters to start the 2015 season than Louisiana State University.

According to LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette, the Tigers had 40 players on 53-man rosters in Week 1. The next closest team was Miami (Fl.), which produced 37 players.

The Southeastern Conference remains the hub of the college football world, with four of the top six schools hailing from the SEC. Along with LSU, Alabama and Georgia are tied for fourth, while Florida ranks fifth. The Atlantic Coast Conference has three (Miami, Florida State and Clemson) in the top 10. Pac-12 giant USC ranks third, Oklahoma represents the Big 12 in seventh, and independent Notre Dame finished ninth.

Noticeably absent: The Big 10, which had no teams in the top 10.

That could certainly change in coming years, with Urban Meyer’s Ohio State stacked with NFL talent. But in the present, the Big 10 can’t be considered one of the premier producers of professional players.
