According to director of NFC communications Randall Liu, Cox was named the NFC defensive player of the week for the first time in his four-year NFL career.

Cox was a man amongst boys in Week 5, delivering three sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in Philadelphia’s 39-17 win over the Saints. He became the first player to produce such a stat line since the 2007 season.
The Eagles had not received a defensive player of the week award since Kirk Coleman in 2011.
Cox’s three sacks were the most by a Philadelphia defender since Connor Barwin tallied 3.5 last November. He’s one of only four Eagles to produce three sacks in a game since 2007 (Barwin, Trent Cole, Jason Babin).

The Eagles will now take on Eli Manning and the New York Giants in Week 6. Manning, who threw for over 441 yards and three touchdowns in New York’s come-from-behind win, was named the NFC offensive player of the week in Week 5.
