Fans held their breaths during a scary moment in Saturday’s Chinese Super League match between Shanghai Shenhua and Changchun Yatai. A Shenhua defender kicked his own teammate in the chin while attempting to bicycle kick a ball away from danger.

Shenhua’s Li Jianbin did not see teammate Xiong Fei when he tried a bicycle kick, and he ended up kicking him right in the chin.

It looked like Fei was concussed, judging by the way his arms were positioned, as they immediately went straight out after he absorbed the impact.

After a brief delay, he was eventually stretchered off the field.

The team tweeted out a photo of Fei after the match, with his chin bandaged. He looked to be doing better. In fact, they said he was “fine,” which is a tough sell, judging by what had happened just hours beforehand.
