Florida Sate kicker Roberto Aguayo had been perfect in fourth quarter kicks in his career heading into Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech. The Seminoles, too, were perfect before the ACC matchup, having not lost a game this season.
Until Saturday, that is.
With the score tied at 16-16, Aguayo attempted a 56-yard field goal on the final play of regulation. Georgia Tech fans were hoping for overtime, but they got something better.
Georgia Tech blocked the field goal, and Lance Austin scooped it up. He returned it 78 yards for the walk-off, game-winning touchdown, and Bobby Dodd Stadium went nuts.
The amazing play was reminiscent of when Auburn beat Alabama on the famous “Kick Six” play two years ago.
