“Weird Al” now can be called “Coach Al.”
“Weird Al” Yankovic, who has made a living out of popular song parodies, has turned his rapier wit to the sports world.
This video posted by The Kicker is pretty hilarious and can be appreciated by small- and big-paper reporters, sideline reporters and “bloggahs” willing to laugh at themselves.
Perhaps the most impressive part of the video is that Yankovic isn’t immediately recognizable as “Grizzled Coach.” Maybe he cut those long, curly black locks. But that gray-hair wig makes his role pretty convincing. Some people might even watch the video and say “Oh yeah, that is Weird Al,” about halfway through.
It’s definitely worth multiple views. There are some nice little touches you might not notice the first time, from the fake background advertising to the silly-looking cop behind the reporters.
No clichéd aspect of the sports press conference is spared.
Weird Al put it all on the line and gave it a 110 percent effort.
