It’s no secret that comedian Daniel Tosh is a Miami Dolphins fan, but he had no problem betting against his team on Thursday night for a good cause.

Tosh’s comedian friend Andy Ritchie is currently suffering from brain cancer and needs help paying for his medical expenses, so the “Tosh.0” star came up with a clever way to do just that.

With Tosh’s Dolphins set to square off against the New England Patriots on Thursday night, the comedian went ahead and bet $25,000 on the Patriots to lead by more than three (-3.5) points after one half of play.

The bet cashed with ease, as the Patriots took a 19-0 lead into the half. As far as exactly what the money will go toward, Tosh is leaving that up to Ritchie.

“Once I double it, [Ritchie] can do whatever he wants with it; go on a lion-hunting safari or get treatment,” Tosh recently told the Hollywood Reporter.

Tosh has also been asking others to contribute to Ritchie’s GoFundMe page to help pay his medical bills as well.

The Patriots scored on their opening drive of the game when Tom Brady connected with Rob Gronkowski on a 47-yard touchdown, and Tosh’s bet was never in jeopardy. It may have been a bit tough to root against his team, but some things are more important than football, and Tosh’s gesture was certainly a commendable one.
