The Spurs made a huge splash in the offseason by signing LaMarcus Aldridge. He’s already making headlines, but not for the reasons you’d think.
Aldridge learned a lesson about boxing out in Monday’s game against the Knicks, when rookie Kristaps Porzingis put him on a poster with a sick putback dunk.
When Carmelo Anthony’s mid-range jumper clanked off the rim, Aldridge got position underneath the hoop and prepared to haul in the rebound, but he may have underestimated Porzingis’ leaping ability. The Knicks rookie timed his jump perfectly while the ball was in the air and threw down a putback dunk over Aldridge.
The Knicks bench had a great reaction as well. They seemed to enjoy the awesome dunk as much as we did.
