There are times when athletes give interviews and are clearly not interested in being on the air.
Such was the case when Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently-drafted WR Mike Evans appeared on The Jim Rome Show this afternoon.
Evans seemed lethargic as he labored through the interview, and answered many of Rome’s questions in one sentence or less. There were even some one-word answers sprinkled in, too. Props to Rome for preventing what could’ve been a lot of dead air and a complete bomb of an interview.
The sad thing is that it could’ve been radio gold. There was talk of Evans eating an entire pizza before playing in basketball games, and how he would later throw said pizza up at halftime.
Rome pretty much summed it up when recapping the interview, which can be heard in the sound bites below. “That [interview] started badly and ended badly,” he said.
