Peyton Manning has “Omaha.”

Aaron Rodgers has “New York Bozo.”

Tom Brady doesn’t want to be the only elite NFL quarterback without a signature call at the line of scrimmage.

Early in Monday night’s game against the Bills at Gillette Stadium, Brady yelled out “Rex Ryan” before a play.

Was Brady trying to catch Ryan off guard, trying to take his attention away from his defense for a precious second? Was this the latest in the ongoing series of barbs Ryan and the Patriots have been exchanging since Ryan became the Jets coach in 2009?

ESPN commentator Jon Gruden suggested that Ryan’s initials could have meant that the play was going to the right.

Maybe Brady was just trying to say “Rex Ryan, nice sweater vest!”

Who knows.
