It’s not exactly Action Comics No. 1 or the first pressing of The Beatles’ White Album, but to some sports fans…it’s close enough.
And at a fraction of the price.
For sale over at eBay is a “beautiful and original” Sports Illustrated ‘s first issue. But what makes this auction team different than the scores of other ones out there is that this one comes complete with the original mailer from 1954. That’s right, some fan actually kept the original envelope that surrounded the inaugural Sports Illustrated that featured Milwaukee Braves Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews.
Pretty cool.
