It’s been an odd week in the NBA, with Stephen Curry squaring off with Kevin Durant, the Los Angeles Clippers trotting out a new mascot, Kobe Bryant doing Kobe Bryant things and Leonardo DiCaprio pulling in some serious hardware.
All right, that last note isn’t NBA related, but rest assured it fit in quite well with the memes of the week with some notable NBA stars undergoing their own lengthy droughts suddenly getting compared to the actor and producer.
Where to start? The Golden State Warriors just put a 121-106 beating on the Oklahoma City Thunder, meaning Durant’s team has now lost two in a row and four of their last six. It also prompted quite the funny, if not enlightening post by NBA Memes:

Curry can’t really be stopped, which wasn’t a secret going into the eventual blowout. Still, it was fun to watch him erupt for 33 points to lead all scorers in the contest and produce this gem of a post:

The Western Conference is really where it was at this week. Though they don’t get a ton of credit, the San Antonio Spurs quietly sit just three games behind the Warriors at 52-9 and have made some recent moves to help close the gap.
Most notably, the oldest team in the Association, headlined by 39-year-old Tim Duncan, added veteran point guard Andre Miller. “Veteran” as in a guy who now occupies the “oldest” slot on the roster:

Speaking of things out West, the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant have gone rather quiet as of late. Bryant’s hardly played in each of the team’s last three games, but the four games before that stretch are quite the doozy. Over that stretch he went 10-of-25, 8-of-20, 3-of-12 and 5-of-14. Those were all losses, of course, helping the team to a 1-9 mark over its last 10 and prompting a funny one from Instagram user Drew Martin:
With the attention on Los Angeles, don’t forget about those Clippers. In a move to seemingly alter the conversation, if not the image of the franchise after Blake Griffin decked a coworker and broke his hand on the guy’s face, the team unveiled a new mascot. Instagram user nbamemes provided a sarcastic take on the new guy who will roam the sidelines during games:
And finally, what everyone probably came here for—Leonardo DiCaprio. DiCaprio finally got himself an Oscar, and well, the memes flowed, folks. As it were, the funniest pertained to one LeBron James and his constant struggle to bring Cleveland a title:

James has to feel like a guy lost in snowy woods getting chased by wolves, too.
Maybe someday he’ll find a warmer climate with sandy beaches and…wait.
