You have to feel for Alexander Ovechkin and Washington Capitals fans. For the second time since 2009, the team won the Presidents’ Trophy and failed to reach the conference finals.

The loss is already posing questions: Should the Caps trade Ovechkin and/or Nicklas Backstrom? It’s hard to say, but at this time, the team is likely still reeling from the crushing 4-3 defeat in overtime on Tuesday night.

Nick Bonino, who has been a Caps killer this series, delivered the dagger in the extra stanza. And as Penguins fans and players celebrated on the ice, Ovechkin reacted on the Caps bench, and a tear was shed as his frustration and disappointment boiled over.
