Got an extra $179,100 sitting around?
Such was the selling price of a piece of the Staples Center recently through the Lakers Youth Foundation via an anonymous buyer. According to ESPN.com’s Darren Rovell, it was a piece of the floor from Bryant’s epic 60-point farewell:
The piece, four panels measuring four feet by eight feet each, had Kobe’s former number 8 on it and was signed by Bryant after he scored 60 points in his final game on April 13.
The listing itself was rather interesting:
These four panels, which measure 4 feet by 8 feet each, create a 20-foot by 8-foot Tetris-shaped tribute to one of the greatest players in NBA history. Each piece will be hologrammed to ensure authenticity.
Folks knew Bryant’s retirement was big business. This slate of the Staples Center has to go down as one of the most expensive (and smallest) pieces of flooring ever.
