Skeeter, Matt Duffy’s extremely large cat who has more than 14,000 followers on Instagram, is not going to Tampa with his owner. The 25-year-old infielder, who was traded from the Giants to the Rays on Monday, said on MLB Network Radio that Skeeter is staying put because of the heat.

The Rays were devastated.

So not only did Duffy get traded away from a contender, he’s also being separated from his pal, Skeeter. The MLB trade deadline is cruel.
