It’s no secret that the Dallas Cowboys are in desperate need of a backup quarterback, now that Kellen Moore is set to miss 2-3 months with a leg injury.
The good news, however, is that country music star Blake Shelton has a quick and easy solution to the team’s quarterback woes: “Tebow.”
Yes, according to Shelton, it’s Tebow time. Shelton was recently tracked down by TMZ Sports, and he urged the Cowboys to sign the 28-year-old free agent to fill the roster void and potentially back up Tony Romo.
Tebow last played in a regular-season game in 2012 with the Jets, and has likely spent more time talking about the game on television than playing it over the past few years.
The Tebow experiment did not work out well for the Jets, Patriots or Eagles, so it’s hard to see him being anything but training camp fodder if the Cowboys really were to come calling. But it would be fun to watch if it actually happened.
Regardless, the Cowboys will need to sign someone to work out with their first and second teams at training camp, and soon. They struck out on Matt Moore earlier in the offseason, and passed on both Nick Foles and Chase Daniel. And now, with their first regular-season game roughly five weeks away, they have rookie Dak Prescott currently taking snaps with the second team. They’ll need to do better than that.
But Shelton, a Cowboys fan, thinks he has the answer to their quarterback woes.
