Antonio Cromartie is quite the interesting landlord.

Back in the day, Cromartie bought his mother a house like most star athletes do. In his prime, Cromartie was one of the best corners in the league, so his ability to juggle multiple house payments was never really in question.

Now, though, it sounds like Cromartie had to serve his own mother papers over a payment dispute, per TMZ:

Gardner claims … Cromartie bought the house and paid for everything for years — but the gravy train stopped in February when he asked his mother to pay the $700 per month mortgage bill.

Long story short, his mother refused to pay and she’s out by August 15 unless she submits a check with back payment included. TMZ later updated the story with a look from a different perspective:

A rep for Antonio tells TMZ Sports … “His mother has been paying the mortgage on the house since 2011. That’s the deal they have in place.”

“It wasn’t until June that she refused to make any payments.”

It’s a dispute Cromartie probably never wanted made public and he offered an interesting tweet Friday:

Cromartie has kids to take care of and at some point money does run out. With Cromartie sitting on the market as a free agent and yet to find a gig, this sort of thing isn’t so outlandish.

Now 32 years old, there has been speculation injury issues could force Cromartie to hang up the cleats. Odds are strong, though, training camp injuries give the veteran another chance. Hopefully said chance coincides with off-field drama getting resolved, too.
