Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler turned in another poor performance against the Eagles on Monday Night Football, and it didn’t take long for the criticism to begin pouring in on social media after the 29-14 loss at Soldier Field.

Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu must have been watching the game, too, as evidenced by the tweet he sent (and quickly deleted). Mathieu poked fun at the lack of development from Cutler, given the amount of money the organization has been paying him.

It was a bit weird for Mathieu to weigh in about another NFL player, but he isn’t wrong. Cutler signed a $126.7 million contract back in 2014, and will make $17 million (base salary) this season.

And his play on the field certainly isn’t justifying the hefty contract. Cutler completed 12 of 17 passes for 157 yards on Monday night, but turned the football over twice (one fumble, one interception). He was also sacked three times.

Cutler left the game in the third quarter after suffering a hand injury, and could miss some time in the near future. He was replaced by Brian Hoyer, which is a sign that this season will likely be a long, painful one for Bears fans.
