Everyone is going crazy about NFL players and they fast, luxurious cars, but did you know some of them are into RC cars as well? Some players have amazing collections that would make any RC passionate crazy!
Since I am a huge fan of both (NFL and remote controlled vehicles) I put together a list with the most popular NFL players who love RC racing. This way, we find new connections with our favorite stars in the big league.
#1: Patrick Peterson – Arizona Cardinals’ Cornerback
Patrick De’mon Peterson is considered to be one of the best NFL cornerbacks and fifth best overall player. He started his career playing college football at Louisiana State University, and advanced into the big league very fast due to his physical skills and love for the game.
His passion for RC cars started in childhood (at about 8 years old) when he noticed his neighbor was an RC cars hobbyist. Today he owns a wide collection of ‘little cars’ and likes to race against other big names in the sports world.
Most of Peterson’s remote controlled vehicles are racers or dragsters, and his newest acquisition is the Funny Car from Traxxas. This is a dragster that can reach speeds of 300mph in a few seconds.
#2: The Bus
He retired from activity in 2006 but he is still one of the players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame (he was added in 2005).
When it comes to RC cars, he is an avid Traxxas fan and his favorite model is the T-Maxx. This is a huge off-road truck (figures he’d like a big truck, right?) that can easily get to 45mph and has no problem passing over obstacles. If you want to learn more about trucks in the RC world, take a look here.
Quick info: According to my sources, the entire 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers team was into RC racing.
#3: Martin Gramatica
My friend John, from RC Rank, mentioned he knows the former placekicker personally because of their common passion in remotely controlled vehicle competitions. Apparently Martin likes nitro truggy and 1/8 scale cars because they are extremely fast due to their small size.
Martin started as a college football player for Kansas State University and his first team as a professional player was Tampa Bay Buccaneers (he was with them for five seasons).
He is also famous in the RC community for his passion for fast remote cars and likes to race wherever he gets the chance. When he was a player, he used to hit local tracks when he was with the team on tour.
#4: Reggie Tongue
Reginald Clinton Tongue is a former American football safety who reached the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs. He next moved to the Seattle Seahawks where he took up RC racing, and even raced professionally in local events.
According to people who had the opportunity to race with him, he is fast and doesn’t fear corners.
