Las Vegas is the casino capital of the world, filled with huge casinos (and pay by phone casinos if you play online) and plenty of chances to win big – but what if you simply hate gambling?

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Thousands of people travel to Vegas every year, and not all of them enamoured by video slot machines or roulette wheels. Instead, these people visit Vegas to sample the lifestyle, and to have a whole lot of fun of course.

There’s far more to Sin City than poker chips and playing cards, just check out our activity suggestions below to see it for yourself.

Visit the Desert

It’s easy to forget, when surrounded by flashing lights, that Vegas is actually situated in one of America’s most interesting environments. The Nevada desert is home to many amazing sights, including the Red Rock Canyon and Joshua Tree National Park.

If you’re bored of the Las Vegas strip, then the desert is the place to go. Visitors can book excursions from Las Vegas city itself, and can see the desert by quad bike, helicopter or even hot-air balloon.

Check Out the Art

Whilst Vegas might seem very ‘tacky’ and artificial to some, it’s actually home to some of the most famous artworks in the world. Throughout the city, there’s plenty of art to see, including pieces by Jeff Koons and Takashi Murakami.

Art fans should definitely visit the The Art Collection at The Cosmopolitan and The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art or, if galleries aren’t really your thing, why not check out the city’s amazing murals as you walk around town?

Eat Well

If you’re a foodie travelling to Vegas, then you’re in luck. In Vegas there’s plenty of culinary experiences to be had, including Michelin-starred restaurants and buffet-style dining like no other.

If you’re happy to spend a lot to eat well, book yourself into Joel Robuchon’s flagship restaurant in the MGM grand or Nobu at Caesars Palace. Alternatively, you could also visit the Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan, which puts on a buffet which includes fresh seafood, sushi, deserts and bottomless cocktails.

Experience A Pool Party Like No Other

Las Vegas may have earned its Sin City moniker by being filled with gambling venues but, in recent years, it’s also become one of the best places to see your favourite DJs and EDM musicians.

Vegas pool parties are legendary and they’re the perfect place to head to if you want to experience the chaos of the city without risking all your money at the blackjack table.

Get Married

As you probably know, Vegas is a one of the only places in America where couples can elope. Its also pretty famous for its shotgun weddings, which have been featured in almost every American comedy from Friends to The Hangover. The Little White Chapel is probably the most well-known wedding venue, where couples can get married by Elvis and Cher impersonators.

Whilst it’s probably unwise to get married in Vegas unless you’re visiting the city with your partner, even watching others get hitched can be a day out to remember. Gate-crashing someone else’s nuptials? Only in Vegas.
