We learned a valuable lesson after the Denver Broncos defeated the San Diego Chargers, 35-21, on Thursday Night Football.
When QB Peyton Manning and the team’s offense is on the field, please do not show the opposing quarterback on the sideline or play loud music to pump the crowd at Sports Authority Field up.
Otherwise, No. 18 might go off on you, which is exactly what happened to the Broncos’ scoreboard operator in Thursday night’s postgame news conference.
“Our fans are great,” Manning said. “I’ve got a problem with our scoreboard operator. I’ve got to have a little talk with him.”
Manning was particularly upset on the field during one play late in the game, wherein the team had to take a false start penalty because the crowd was so loud.
And you can read his lips during the video clip to decipher what he said. It’s pretty clear that he turned to the crowd and told them to “Shut the f*** up.”
Leave it to Manning—the greatest QB of all-time—to rate the performance of someone who didn’t actually play in the game. He managed to inject some humor into his rant, though, as he so often does.
“The scoreboard operator—it wasn’t his best night,” he said.
