The New York Jets led the Pittsburgh Steelers, 20-13, with just over a minute remaining in Sunday’s gamein a matchup that appeared all but over. But the Steelers would not go quietly, and did everything they could to give themselves an opportunity to get back in the game.

That included attempting to wreck the Jets’ victory formation.

As QB Michael Vick prepared to take a knee late in the game, everyone expected the Steelers to lay down and allow the clock to run out. But they didn’t. As soon as the ball was snapped, FS Mike Mitchell came flying in over the top in Vick’s direction.

But the Jets made him pay. Nick Mangold calmly flipped Mitchell over onto his back before he could even get to Vick. The disruption attempt was quickly thwarted.

A short skirmish erupted in the trenches afterward, as the Jets offensive line was not happy about the Steelers’ attempt to take a page out of Greg Schiano’s playbook. The former Buccaneers head coach once instructed his team to knock Eli Manning down just before he was to take a knee in a game that occurred two seasons ago.

The Jets would later run out the clock and emerge victorious in the hard-fought game.
