Did you hear about what the current 007, Daniel Craig, said while out promoting the latest James Bond movie “Spectre”? The actor jokingly said that he’d rather cut his wrists than play the spy again.
As can be expected, these comments caused some controversy and soon gossip-mongers on the web began to speculate about who would replace Craig as Bond. After all, the internet is the place to find information or talk about anything that you like, even online casinos and their lucrative welcome bonuses.
Whether Craig will give up the role after Spectre or not remains to be seen. But, he is only contracted for one more movie as the famous spy, so it’s time to look at the available options. In any event, here are 11 actors that we think should be considered for the role:
- Damian Lewis
This actor is one of Roger Moore’s top picks and he seems to be a fan favorite as well. He’s had a relatively successful career, with another spy show “Homeland” under his belt, so we know he has the experience to do the role justice.
- Chiwetel Ejiofor
One thing’s for sure, this actor looks good in a suit, which is a requirement for anyone that will be playing James Bond. And if “12 Years a Slave” has taught us anything, it’s easy to root for this talented actor. So, why not give him a chance to be the ultimate spy?
- Charlize Theron
It’s doubtful that the iconic James Bond character will be played by a girl, but if this were ever an option, Charlize Theron would be an excellence choice. Plus, since we’ve already seen her excel at being a gun-wielding tough girl, we know that she can add some grit to the role.
- David Harewood
Although, not an initial consideration, he caught everyone’s attention when he stated in an interview that, if given the opportunity, he would try out for the role.
- Hayley Atwell
We’ve already seen her play a super sleuth in Marvel’s hit television series Agent Carter, so playing Bond would be an easy transition for this talented actress. Plus, she has the onscreen charisma to pull it off and, and an added bonus, she already has the accent down pact.
- Tom Hardy
There’s no doubt that this fan favorite can pull off the rough-around-the-edges James Bond that Craig initially brought to life. And, based on his performance in The Dark Knight rises, we know that he can pull off the troubled and emotional side of Bond as well.
- Henry Cavill
This actor has a debonair look to him that is reminiscent of Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery, which would make him perfect if the studio’s looking for a more refined Bond the next time around. Plus, since Cavill has already played the Man of Steel, he knows how to deal with the pressures of pleasing an audience that has expectations of a certain character.
- Idris Elba
This handsome actor is yet another fa favorite for the role. Plus, his performances in several Hollywood blockbusters suggest that hes ready for a role like this.
- Angelina Jolie
Based on her body of work, it seems odd when this beautiful actress isn’t playing a gun-toting assassin. One thing’s for sure, she knows how to execute this type of role, so there’s no doubt that she’d be a great female Bond.
- Emily Blunt
Emily proved that she can handle lots of action when she played in Edge of Tomorrow alongside Tom Cruise and we know that she can handle humor with ease, as is evidenced by her role as Meryl Streep’s assistant in The Devil Wears Prada. These traits may help her bring the role back to its more lighthearted origins.
- Tom Hiddleston
Known for his role as the villainous Loki, Hiddleston is considered to be somewhat of a risky choice. But, if studios wanted to shake things up a little, he would be perfect.
