Take a thinly veiled shot at Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and you can expect return fire, even if you’re a state governor running for President of the United States.

While campaigning in Wisconsin ahead of Tuesday’s primary, Ohio governor John Kasish threw some unexpected shade at Rodgers when asked who would be his Vice President if he were elected.

“Aaron Rodgers, maybe if he had a better year, next year,” Kasich said, according to TMZ.

Clearly aware of the comment, the always witty Rodgers returned the favor in kind on Tuesday night:

Kasich was likely pandering to the Wisconsin crowd with the Rodgers mention. But his attempt to win over voters in the Badger State came up short when he included the jab at the two-time NFL MVP’s 2015 season, in which he set new career lows in completion percentage and passer rating.

The Packers quarterback used a Twitter question about his potential VP to return the zing.

However, Rodgers probably doesn’t have to worry about a call from Kasich. The Republican Presidential candidate is far behind Donald Trump and Ted Cruz in delegates, and Wisconsin isn’t likely to do him any favors. Kasich is expected to finish third in the state’s primary on Tuesday.

In fact, it’s possible Rodgers will tally more votes:
