In close to fifty years as a franchise, the San Diego Padres have had more hat designs than they have playoff appearances and, it would appear, fans of the Friars are in for another change.
Thursday, Padres fan (and baseball cap enthusiast) Tim Arzaga posted pictures on Twitter of what we can believe are new hats and, subsequently, a very blue and yellow Chargersesque color scheme.
Arzaga quickly removed the pictures of the Padres new lid (apparently the team did not appreciate his spoiler alerting), but, according to sportslogos.net, the pictures were indeed for real.
“Yellow is being added to the colour scheme, the cap pictured is legit and will be worn with the home uniform,” sportslogos.net posted. “The home white jersey will feature a new blue and yellow wordmark across the chest, ‘bowtie’ style.”
Also gone…the team’s “Swinging Friar” logo. But not all is lost, Padres fans…there’s this to look forward to.
“There will be a new alternate home uniform which will incorporate the retro colours of brown and mustard,” the site added.
Hooray!
