Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby is set to name Baylor and TCU co-champions, and Bears head coach Art Briles is not happy about it.
Briles felt that Baylor should be named champion being that they beat TCU head-to-head. He ripped Bowlsby after the team’s 38-27 victory over Kansas State, saying “The Big 12 states there’s one true champion.”
He continued on in a postgame interview with ESPN’s Holly Rowe on the field.
“I don’t think there’s another resume that has that on the board. I think you put them on the board, take the name off the resume [and] point to four resumes better than ours—you’re not finding one.”
He then provided a great quote when asked how about how important the team’s 61-58 win over TCU was.
“What country do we live in? America.”
Both TCU and Baylor finished with 11-1 records (8-1 conference). But Briles is right—the Bears deserve to be named champion. They’ve earned it.
