Following a bombshell announcement that Brock Lesnar was going to return to the Octagon, the former UFC and WWE champ wasted no time in making the media rounds.

And, in the process, raised a couple of eyebrows.

“I’m a crossover athlete. I’m the modern-day Bo Jackson, people,” Lesnar said, referring to the Heisman trophy winner-turned-MLB All-Star. “I’m excited about it. I’m enthusiastic. I couldn’t be more excited and honored to have the opportunity that both companies have faith in Brock Lesnar to allow him to step back into the Octagon.”

He’s got a point…to a point.

Jackson, who took home college football’s most prestigious award in 1985 and parlayed his superior athleticism into successful careers both in Major League Baseball and the NFL. Lesnar, a self-proclaimed “prize fighter” has made a name for himself with stints in both WWE, MMA and UFC. In 2004 he tried out for the Minnesota Vikings.
