The Portland Trail Blazers used a late surge to force overtime and later pull off a dramatic comeback victory over the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center on Wednesday night.
Damian Lillard had his worst game of the season and made only one field goal of the 13 he attempted. However, Nicolas Batum caught fire in the fourth quarter and it carried over into overtime. He racked up 20 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in the team’s 98-93 victory.
The craziest moment of the Western Conference matchup happened in the game’s final seconds. The Clippers had the ball with under three seconds remaining, with the game tied at 87-87.
Chris Paul took the inbounds pass and attempted a floater that hit off the backboard and rolled off the rim. DeAndre Jordan just stared at it, and it looked as if he thought the shot clock was the game clock.
Even though there was less than one second remaining when Paul’s shot rolled off the rim, it sure looked like Jordan had enough time for a putback dunk or tip-in. But he caught the ball and just stared at the hoop, clearly thinking the game was over.
Paul then went off on Jordan after the play was over for not putting the ball back up.
You can’t blame Paul for being upset. Jordan’s brain fart likely cost the Clippers the game.
